The “before and after” of an icon of Sant Lluís

Speaking about “Es Casino” is speaking about an emblematic building of Sant Lluís which has been closed for years, and which has just reopened its doors after a complete renovation.

Abraham and Lluís are a pair of businessmen who settled a few years ago in Sant Lluís and who, together with their friend Nacho, decided to go into this beautiful project to renovate this well-known space in our village.

The Es Casino’s doors have been closed for a long while and time has taken its toll on this historic building. At the end of 2019, this daring businessmen’s group contacted Fincas Sant Lluís, as we had the building for sale, to explain their project to us. After many twists and turns, many projects, concerns, hopes, as well as a pandemic, finally… this magnificent project has just seen the light of day and is coming in force!

The local took the name of Es Foraster, alluding to Abraham and Lluís’ foreign origin, although they were for a long time more than “Santlluisers”. This is a boutique-café, which offers a fine selection of original and high-quality products. Entering the building, you will feel an incredible well-being and you will not know where to look in front of so many beautiful things. The ground floor is divided between the pleasant cafeteria and the shop which offers clothes, beautiful decoration and many other fantastic items. Going up to the first floor via the building's original staircase, you will find a spectacular hall designed as an art gallery and exhibition of sensational furniture and larger objects. In this space, the current owners have chosen to remove the existing false ceiling and recover the majestic height of the building, leaving the beams and the mares walls visible. So, in Sant Lluís breaths a new and fresh air with Es Foraster, and if you haven't been there yet, don't wait any longer!

While discussing with the owners to understand better what is behind Es Foraster, they have defined their project to us as "A new space on el Cós in Sant Lluís that is brimming with creativity" and indeed, they couldn’t not have described it better ... In addition, the selection of unique fashion and craft pieces, authors’ works and decorative objects give a lot of character to this space which was designed a meeting point. The pretty Es Foraster cafeteria focuses on top quality local products and welcomes you with a selection of delicious squeezed juices, organic coffee, a wide variety of teas and granita, nodding to the typical Menorcan drink. It also offers a tasty selection of quiches, toasts, chocolate brownies, carrot cake etc…. Everything there exudes harmony and commitment to local talents and sustainable innovation.
